Did I mention that I’m a starving artist looking for freelance or professional work?
This is definitely my most ambitious pencil drawing to date. This began as life drawing practice. Three sketches. Done with a No.2 pencil on newsprint.
First with an unknown model (The Starlet) that I found in a google search. Then with my sketch of the Gorgeous @stefaniaferrario (the StarChild) and the third was the Ancestral mask of Johanna from the @villarte #villarrtestylechallenge.
I often try to put as many sketches as I can on a single piece of paper. I don’t like wasting paper and I’m not rich by any means. So I had three eclectic drawings on a single page and I thought it would be interesting to try to pull all the artwork together into a single piece. A single narrative.
I used a big spooky tree as the membrane that ties the imagery together.
The Dire Wolf skull was a late addition, as I needed something to take up space in the corner of the drawing.
It’s not a perfect piece by any means, it would be a lot less chaotic if I planned it out beforehand. But I have the most fun whenever I just let the art guide me. It knows where it wants to go, I just have to have a little faith in the process.
And in the end I’m pretty happy with the result. I feel like this could be a wraparound cover to a graphic novel or perhaps a mural.
Anyway thanks for taking time to look at the art and thanks to you lovelies if you read this whole thing. 😘
