There is one thing I dont understand though.
With as poor as new orleans is, why didnt people think that 1/6 of the population DOES NOT have cars ...
It would have been pretty easy to just take all the public transit buses on their routes and take everyone out of town ...
1-2% probably would have stayed anyway but at least most would be out and there would be buses to help them.
The whole thing is a terrible tragedy ... New Orleans is a beautiful city (i applied to Tulane years ago) and I hope it can return ...
May the gods be with you new orleans and mississippi ... things have to change for the better soon ...
