It's tax time again... i think we should produce a little ad inspired by George Lakoff and the Christian Childrens Fund.
Hopefully it will get the Fox news type to support a more socialized system. Three things are necessary for this commercial to be successful patriotism, Jesus and cute kids.
** start with a sweeping shot of New York city
Announcer:
America is truly the greatest nation in the world, but there is much to do...
** fade to a shot of poor children in cities decimated by economic turmoil... eg; Flint, MI
Announcer:
For pennies a day we can give these children proper schooling, food, clothes and medical insurance.
** cut to a non-threatening bald middle aged man with a beard walking through the slums
Bald Man:
These children are being punished for being born poor in a system that views them as morally bankrupt.
**Bald Man picks up a little boy
Bald Man:
Please help little Patrice and his friends live happy and healthy lives. In exchange for your support you will recieve a picture of a child you sponsored and progress reports of other children in the area.
**Cut to children playing on dilapidated play ground equipment
Announcer:
These children deserve a chance at a normal life you are not only investing in the future of these children but in the future of America itself.
fade to black
Children might or might not be a blessing, but to create them and then fail them was surely damnation.
--Lois McMaster Bujold
God bless america and god bless the children.

Very creative... maybe that kind of commercial would get the point across, people always say those Christian Children's Fund ones make them cry!
attack_macaque:
Whatever you do, don't use the word "socialized" in there anywhere - the Faux news types have been trained to slobber like Pavlov's dog every time they hear "social-" anything. And by slobber I mean foam at the mouth and bark.
Good stuff, though.
