Well, lets see. I just returned from Va Beach to spend time with the Mom and my Bro as well as help continue to sort through my father's belongings, biz stuff, etc. He passed away in May.
I went and saw an old friend of mind's band, The Gonowheres which was fun while I was up there. They call their sound "Dismal Swamp Punk" which is pretty appropriate. Loud and crushing like a jacked up 70's Ford Bronco without a muffler. I may get to sit in with them some time. I miss playing music. Sometimes things start swirling so fast that you forget the stuff that you once really enjoyed. All in the name of growing up.
Jerry, I had my Surly with me this time. I put it together and cruised the boardwalk which was not too bad. The Beach has really cleaned up quite a bit; a very low scalawag quota. It is just like the cute touristy place that I remember from when I was a lil' kid. The next day I went up to Wmsburg to ride, geared up at the trailhead, pedaled about 1/8 of a mile into the trail only to find my crankarm was stripped.
Oh well. I took the scenic way back to the beach down 664, listened to The Smiths and felt alright. I drank a G&T and a couple of Bud lites that evening. Martinis next time.
