Today, May 29, is Max Brand's birthday. The creator of such classic characters as Dr. Kildare and Whistlin' Dan Barry was born this day in 1892.

I encourage you to pick up one of his books. You'll be glad you did.

The producer decided to let someone else write the example episode. Nevertheless, he said his people liked the breakdown I wrote and he will keep me in mind as a writer if the show ever gets picked up.

A producer, perusing the listings on inktip.com, saw a synopsis I wrote, liked my writing, and wants me to write an episode for a proposed TV show.

This may will lead to something. You never know.

WriteMovies posted the winners today. I didn't win, but then I didn't really expect to. Still, I was in the top 20 out of 1000 entries and that's not bad.

I just found out that my comedy script "Jilted" made the finals in the WriteMovies.com screenplay contest. Booyah!

I was just notified that my script "Jilted" is a finalist in the WriteMovies.com International Writing Competition. Hope it makes it to the next round. I really need something to kickstart my writing career. Keep your fingers crossed.

I decided to enter Script Frenzy--the contest, exercise, whatever you want to call it--in which participants write a hundred page screenplay in a month.

Anyone else on SG doing this?

I entered a screenplay contest recently. The contest charged a reasonable entry fee ($40), but charged additional, and in my opinion, exorbritant fees for judge's feedback--$60 more for "judge's highlights" and $140 more for full coverage.

Having to decide between McCain and Obama, I was reminded of that Woody Allen line about mankind being at a crossroads:"One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness. The other, to total extinction. Let us pray that we have the wisdom to choose correctly."

Actually, I think Woody was entirely too optimistic.

W is finally out of the White House. As Gerald Ford once said:" Our long national nightmare is over."

I started on a new screenplay, a pulp Western in the Max Brand mold.

I hope it fares better than my last script. I put a lot of work into it and, when it was finished , hardly anyone liked it.

Once again, on the final game of the season, the Marlins eliminated the Mets from post-season play. Unbelievable.
