question of the day:
who, besides me, gets attracted to fictional characters, ie: jay gatsby, johnny the homacidal mainiac or vincent valentine? is this just my own personal malady?

yesterday, while shuffling about the town, i ran into an old friend. this kid just vanished about a year ago and bam, there he was, panhandling in a parking lot. sammy and i brought him to my house and he told a horrible story about how this guy blamed my friend for "ratting him out" regarding an incident of assault. my friend did not do it. while walking through a park with two of his friends (a girl and a guy) the assault guy jumped them all with nine other people. made them do weird stuff like all line up on their knees while they pistol whipped them and they hassled the girl. blech, typing this...i don't really want to go into the details but it's upsetting me and forgive me for a depressing journal entry. my friend fell asleep on my couch and when i woke up, he was gone. just took off in the middle of the night. stockton has a bad reputation of being like compton or something. (not that i have personal experiance with compton.)

i totally feel you on the crush on fictional characters. i think probably the root of the attraction is that an author will design characters with predominant traits they admire and despise. for instance if an author has a certain fetish or multiple attractions they would possibly write a character encompassing all the traits and exemplify them in a positive way creating the perfect character. ive often found characters in books to be personifications of perfection or derelection. i thik gatsby is a great example.
Burning Man starts next Monday.. I'll be leaving on saturday.. and it ends the following Monday, something like that.. and yes you most definitely have to have a ticket.. but prices @ the door are the most expensive. They encourage people to buy their tickets early, I got mine for 200... at the door i think they're 300$. =(
