For a while I thought I had to do what others wanted me to do in order to make them happy. In my zealous attempts I often found that it wouldn’t make them respect me. For starters, most people only have a vague idea of what makes them happy, the way things are, it takes a lot of imagination and the status quo will usually be provided options to select from. And this is what makes them happy, or at least, they will have some semblance of control. We don’t want what we want, we want not to get what we want, because that’s what we’ve come to expect. We want to give our power of choice away, because it takes the burden of responsibility away. It draws a line, it highlights the distinction of class. The wealthy get what they wish, and it usually comes easy, at least, that’s what we think. But they’re also in a trap, they have to do what serves their interests to avoid looking weak and losing their influence, which is why the world is locked into destruction. Money gets you control, but it’s not the kind of freedom you have any control over. There are rules. There’s no such thing as absolute freedom. So I’ve found I have to turn inward to find my happiness, I have to use my imagination to create ways to live. Fate is nothing but a self fulfilling prophecy, and life and death are ultimate fantasies. The dreamer wakes up. Jan 28, 2024 2 Facebook Tweet Email
