The Dimmest Light Oh, I’ve endured life But hollow trees stand Like any man. I leave the forest Go to the plains Where life’s melodies don’t haunt me An endless, rolling sky With clouds like umbrellas Shielding me from the worst Of the torment So permanent, the overcast Cut loose from the strings The instrument, the bow, the puppet show All these are imitations Musing the sounds vibrations The forest was a prison The plains fill up with indecision What now and how?
