I want to be free from this pain
For all the world is stained
Stained by beauty
When I see what others see
I’m not looking in the mirror
I am the butterfly whose wings
Are the tidal wave love brings
To life, I should just forget
The swell that leaves you in debt
In debt to nobody at all.
Drag me out of this quicksand
I could’ve forced my hand
But I seem weary to the strong
I wish there was language for me and you
I wish away the anguish rendered due
In the jungle they say,
“In life we kill, in death
We’re not so limited,”
We kill or be killed
And that’s what makes
It seem fair.
