So I got a new ADSL2 Modem Router in the end, went for the Netgear. Looks like its improved network speed and reliability so far. Also it has N range which is 5x faster than my previous G.
The NDAS / Media streaming box is now working, set it to do some backup's got a few errors to check out but it seems to have done the job at least on my work machine.
From what I understand, this device uses less power, has better security and lots of extra useful features for admin.
