I used to visit this site a couple of years ago quite regularily, and had gotten it into my head that there were a couple of SGs who were pretty awesome or something. Alas, now that i have joined I find that most of them are no longer involved with the site. This made me instantly think of lines from two poems I like, one famous, one by a successful but not as well known poet he teaches in California. In order then:
"I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.
I do not think they will sing for me."
and now the less famous one
"The radiance that he had carried around in his bell and chest cavity--like music--withered very quickly, and he made himself look at her when he said, 'I'm sorry. I don't think I could.'"
The first is from Eliot, the second from Hass.
I hate the photo kB limits on this site.
