It'll give you the pertinent link on how you can donate. She'll be walking 60km in august. I'm so proud of her for engaging in this event, and am happy to support her. I hope you will too, if you can donate anything, even a little bit, it's worth it.
Breast cancer is one of the worst afflictions we've seen today. Statistically, although 2005 showed 16% lower diagnosis numbers than the previous years, it's been in steady increase. It affects our Grandmothers, Mothers, Aunts, Sisters, Girlfriends, Wives. All the important women in our lives are susceptible to it. I too have a family history of breast cancer. A few years ago it affected my mom's sister, my aunt, very dear to my heart, and hurt their family, and our extended family. Of course, there is a risk for my mom, and sister to get it too. It has effected the lives of many friends I know. And even my own Dasha who's mother and grandmother have been effected by it is at risk herself. Imagine not just your grandmother or aging mother, because most of it are young, but a friend, or partner, or sibling, or even yourself.
People who get cancer weren't asking to get it. It wasn't because they were having unsafe sex or sharing needles. It wasn't because they did something wrong, or didn't get the right shot before travelling somewhere. It wasn't because they kissed a lot of members of the opposite sex. It wasn't because someone sneezed on them. Getting breast cancer is not because you didn't take care of yourself.
It cripples victims, families, friends, societies.
Please support Awasis by donating, and support all the women in our lives.
Thanks.
