Today, ladies and gentlemen, I present for your entertainment "the Mohamed Ali of RhythmnBlues" : King Khan.

Quite, quite silly... but appealing to me today.

I squealed like a pig when I discovered that one of my bands will be leaving Alabama for Europe. Only a few dates in Scandanavia announced so far, but I might even be tempted to go there.

Hi sweetie! kiss

Sorry that I haven't visited recently. I really needed some "stari space" both on and off-line. I have been a little hermit girl watching the rain and cleaning out cupboards (and looking for jobs tongue )

There will be more sea stories soon. Hopefully I will have posted more about our trip and some additional recipes by this weekend. In the meantime, I have posted sea sojourn pictures. I got some AMAZING pics of all kinds of tentacled sea creatures! So Squidgie!!! So many tentacles!!! I love love love the sea. We are currently scheming ways to re-structure our life so we can live at the beach for a few years. *fingers crossed*

So what's up with you? Tell all! stari demands knowledge of your personal life. biggrin kiss biggrin

BTW~ I totally cheated on the jerked mushrooms. I got a bottle of papaya jerk sauce from the local grocery, sliced portabella mushrooms and red peppers, and marinated them in the sauce for several hours. (I did add extra olive oil) Then fired up the wok and sauteed away. Extra yummy with the coconut rice and easy as pie (which is a stupid saying because there is nothing easy about pie! Teehee!)

I'm going to eat sweet, sweet sushie now . . . mmmmmm . . . sushi *drool*

The clocks have gone forward and the evenings are light. That's put a spring in my step.

If I was brave I'd start using my push bike to commute again, but my new job is twice as far as I'm used to commuting on a bike. Plus it's the other side of London, and I don't think I'm brave enough to take on that traffic....

Light in the evenings fucking rocks. It's official.

I was reading somewhere that they trialed not having the clocks changed over winter one year in the 70's and that it decreased crime and accidents...Goverment policy = genius!

You're a braver man than me for considering biking it to work across London but then again the tubes and buses aren't much better..... frown

I decided to put all the ticket stubs and fliers I have kept over the years into a scrap book today. It's taking ages, and I'm not even putting them in any kind of order.

It's also making me realise just how quickly the years are whizzing by. That's too quickly. I'm not worrying about my age again, but when I picked up a ticket,...

I have the same feeling, don't worry about it. Mind you, I felt aged and withered when I was 16. Must be something in my water.
starisea:
I agree that time is whizzing by most frighteningly. I notice it most when I look at my nephews. How can it be that the eldest one is already almost a teenager? All around me time flies by, yet I still feel so child-like and immature, like I alone am caught in fairylands and everything I know is aging.

I bought tix to see the Ninja Tune djs next week. Whoot!! Amon Tobin is the headliner. *heart* Can't wait to get my groove on to some mighty fine turntablist action.

Yay spring!! kiss

An odd weekend.
On Friday night I went to see the London Sinfonetta perform a programme of 'modernist' music written in the 1930s and tunes from various Warp artists (Aphex Twin and Squarepusher). There were also brief sets from Squarepusher himself and Jamie Lidell, but I was more interested in classical musicians coming to grips with modern, electronic music.

I was awed, satisfied and bored...

Sadly, no I didn't. My cam is still Yahoo and SG only.
gabriel33:
That must have been bizzare! I've heard classical music being integrated into modern dance and rock but not a classical renendition confused

Was it a one off or is it part of a tour? That could make for an interesting night....

The cleaning continues: today it was the gutters turn. I'm not at all sure exactly why I thought of cleaning out the gutter, but they needed it once I got up there.

Todays home made soup: parsnip and roast garlic. (Yes I washed my hands between the gutter cleaning and the parsnip pealing).

I'm doing the spring cleaning fling as well. Time to tackle that scary box of mix tapes! I can't even give them a nostalgic listen as this house is completely converted to digital contraptions. whatever Teehee!

Soonly, I hope to make a mix on CD of my favorite bits of musical bliss from 2003. If such mix does come to light, I would gladly ship it across the sea to inspire your dj within to spin again. biggrin

Yummy nummy!! Parsnip and garlic soups sounds just righty. Mmmmmmmmmmm!

kiss

Today, In a fit of early spring cleaning, I cleared out a load of magazines and most of my old tapes.

This is a big deal for me: I seem to hoard junk for no apparent reason, other than "it may be useful one day".

The tapes were copies of my CD and records that I used to listen to on my walkman years ago,...

I have done two things so far today:

1. Fixed my home pc network (geek points maxed)

2. Made some brocolli and blue cheese soup from scratch and ate too much for one sitting.

After such a promising start I'm expecting great things.

For some reason I am very happy. smile

It's 10:30 pm on a Friday night and I'm at home, alone, struggling with an application form.

So why the unexpected burst of happiness? Who knows, but I'll enjoy it while I can.

I went for a lovely bike ride this morning.
It was bright and cold and frosty, and quite pretty. I was a fool and forgot to take my camera.
wuvmonki:
They say riding a bicycle is like... er... riding a bicycle, you never forget. Well I don't think it's true. I think if I got on a bike again I would just drop to the side.

loveooo aaa
tetrisbrokeme:
helloooooooooo again! i hope you enjoyed your bike ride. i trust you didn't have to rush back in order to catch a plane this time though wink

It's amazing how quickly this week has gone: especially as I haven't done much except shelter from the cold.

I did have an interview on Thursday, and managed to get a second interview too. I don't think the second one went too well. The job didn't look too bad, but it wasn't ideal either. I should find out next week.

I've realised that I'm wasting...

I'm back from a weekend seeing my folks. As I still have a bit of a cough, they were able to bring out all of their caring urges and look after me. This seemed to mean feeding me every hour.

It keeps them happy.

Oh... and it was snowing at their place, I liked that. Looking at the snowflakes in the moonlight was very reassuring...

Food is a pretty good cure for everything...particularly Nando's hmmmm Nando's smile

As for the snow it's pretty hard to enjoy it these days as the only time I do is on my way to work...never in my best mood at that time in the morning! frown
starisea:
Hot and spicy soup does the trick every time for me. I hope that you are feeling much better. Being ill is such a drag on body and spirit.

Tao is very reassuring. I have been idly studying it for almost 2 years now. (Mixed of course with all my other religious and mystical obsessions . . . so much knowledge, so little time for study.)

Your pictures are amazing!! Somehow, whenever I think of Australia, I always think of the outback and the beaches. I never picture such glorious mountians. Thank you for sharing such wonderous beauty. The planet earth is constantly amazing me. We are so lucky to live in such a world of beauty.

*hugs*

PS~ I LOVE my "Oyster Boy" toys!!! Especially my PinCushion Queen. She is tragically lovely. surreal biggrin surreal

I've been ill frown
Sleeping (at least) 12 hours straight and coughing so hard I get dizzy. I'm convinced that I cough so hard I burst blood vessels deep in my brain ball, and that's why I get dizzy.

Then I remember that I'm reading 'Catch 22'. It's full of hypochondriacs and that's probably rubbed off.

I probably feel under the weather as I'm sleeping too...
