What a great week I've had. It was really full.
Monday was nothing special; just your basic boring shopping.
Tuesday: meeting with a civic group to agitate for more transit. The speaker was a planning official in charge of some TND projects.
Wednesday: T. C. Boyle gave a cool talk about his newest book and writing in general. Funny and interesting. If this one turns out to be any good, I may have to check out his other stuff.
Thursday: Booked myself some free time. Noticed that I had gotten two packages.
Friday: Because on Tuesday, I found out about another civic event I took a half day off of work. This was more time than I needed, but it left me time to pick up my packages. (A book from home I'll need for a book group meeting, and a back issue of Dungeon #1. Now, my collection is complete! )
After the meeting, a book talk about the a case study of welfare reform.
Saturday: Green Festival was pretty cool. I've never seen so much tofu in one place before. The women were hot, the films and presentations were cool. Many thanks to the volunteers.
Sunday: A public transit adventure. Metro to bus to light rail. I think this was the first year of Baltimore's book fair- the speaker slate had a heavy local slant. This in itself is not a bad thing, but I noticed. I also wished they didn't schedule it up against the GMU fair. Oh well. The attractive buildings around the Washington monument makes Mt. Vernon place more than a plus sign in grass & cobblestone. (This shape makes for a good arrangement of stalls, and a natural separation of uses.)
I'd say they are about two improvements away from perfect:
1) Put the speakers indoors, so they don't compete against each other.
2) Separate buying from signing.
3) How about during an away game weekend.
