This past week I've been vacationing, mostly by lazing around doing nothing.

Missed Jon Stewart's signing because I got to into some cleaning. Or maybe just the cleaning fumes. puke

Caught up with an old friend from high school.

Instead of Chilifest, ended up seeing the Hirshorn and the National Botanic Gardens. The jungle room was cooler than I expected, at least on the bottom level.

Sounds like a good week, all in all. smile

Because of Columbus Day, I'm having a long weekend. I've also taken the rest of the week off. This is my first real vacation in seventeen months or so, and damn does it feel good. I do wish that election day was a holiday instead of today, though.

Saturday, I was at the National Book Fair all day. They drew a large number of popular...

*grin* Lychees gross me the hell out. Ick.

Cashews were salted? I had some honey roasted cashews down on the Ice, they were rather tasty.

Hazelnuts. I do not mind eating them, but I do not like the flavored coffees and icecreams. Eww.

Chestnuts? Maybe that is what men would call their boobs...if they had some. wink

The debate was not as clear a victory, I thought.

This past week was sort of blah, so nothing of note to relate.

Next week I've decided to take off, so I should have some more free time to describe. We'll see.

National Book Fair is tommorrow, need to pick out my schedule.

I didn't mean to go more than a week without updating, it just sort of happened that way.

Last weekend, I saw Sky Captain. Overall, it had plenty of pulpy goodness. My main complaint was that since the existence of a WW2 is presupposed by the dialog, what the hell is SC doing flying around in a P-40. That bubble action on a 51D is...

Nice, but I think I'll be workin'... I was too much of a wuss when I saw the Wigfield reading in DC to grab Steven Colbert (when he came by the line inside) and yell, "I LOVE YOU!!" so maybe I'm too scaredy for the meeting-Daily-Show-people thing.
cheech:
Hmm... that changes things a bit... I mean, I was working 9-3 that day, but I might have wiggleroom there...

I should probably post this on CL or at least the boards, but does anyone have any good or bad stories about Filson gear?

What a great week I've had. It was really full.

Monday was nothing special; just your basic boring shopping.

Tuesday: meeting with a civic group to agitate for more transit. The speaker was a planning official in charge of some TND projects.

Wednesday: T. C. Boyle gave a cool talk about his newest book and writing in general. Funny and interesting. If this one turns...

A girlfriend of mine tells me they kept a number of streets closed off during the Monday morning rush hour because they didn't clean up in time. Angry Charm City residents all over!

Indeed, it has been very pleasant, point of fact. smile

Goddamn it! mad That is most uncooperative, GMU! If only you and B'more could have bookended a week. Preferably a week the Green Festival wasn't in town. Oh well, at least my copy of Forty Signs of Rain is already signed. Here's my lineup:

1110 Up Close & Toxic
1200 The Next Industrial Revolution
1300 Lunch & Browse

First: thank you, usenet. I come across this every so often, and when I do, I laugh so hard, every time. "He couldn't get a clue if he stripped naked, rubbed himself with clue musk, went to the middle of the clue breeding grounds at the height of clue breeding season when it was full of horny clues and did the clue mating dance for...
