Politics Bring out the Ugly

Trudeaumania swept our nation last night.

When I first started watching Justin's Campaign run I never in a million years thought a red tide would sweep our nation like it did. I was very open in my standing that I was going to vote Liberal.

Besides this man's good looks and charm his love and passion for Canadians is what won him that seat as PM.

In Alberta I was red in a sea of cold blue. In the last few weeks I was seriously appalled with the bigotry coming from friends and family members.

I was told I was a moron, a idiot for believing that the son of Pierre would care any different about Alberta. But it goes to show you the uneducated blasts coming from hate was fueled by sore losers.

I have always been interested in Politics. I was taught as a young child you keep your mouth shut on your political standing because it tarnishes friendships.

When I watched Justin go from coast to coast with his platform it was best fit for what I wanted.

He brought me to tears when I saw him hitting up PRIDE in each Province. The fact that he cared that equality was needed, had no issues making that public with everyone broke down this girls walls of fear of being who I truly am.

When I read all these posts on FB about how his Father was a piece of shit I think to myself he did a lot for us in Canadian History. Sure he had a tiff with Alberta with the Oil but it took two to tango, more then just Pierre who's NEP was just a drop in the bucket for what went down in Alberta. If people remembered it was HIS Father who gave us our Charters of Rights and Freedoms which should be hands down an epic thing for a PM to accomplish.

PM Trudeau saved a man from jail because he was openly gay. Bigotry boils in Canada. This man was prosecuted for for loving others and being open about it. He wanted to cause a wave of freedom of love in Canada but people with closed minds brought out the pitch forks.

Pierre Trudeau said it best

"The state has no business in the bedrooms of the nation.
Canada will be a strong country when Canadians of all provinces feel at home in all parts of the country, and when they feel that all Canada belongs to them.
We wish nothing more, but we will accept nothing less. Masters in our own house we must be, but our house is the whole of Canada."

People in my city were off the flag about Trudeau taking a Majority. I think they forget that in two consecutive ridding's with Harper and the Conservative Government he did very little for Alberta's Energy Industry.

I watched stupid Memes flood our feeds and people used that to base a vote instead of doing what is right and hitting each parties site, following them through the running and figure out which platform best stood for you or your family.

Justin called Trudeau out right away at the first debate. Mr. Harper you have been unsuccessful at getting the Keystone Approved you failed Canadians.

I love how so many were like LIBERALS HATE ALBERTA! LIBERALS HATE PIPELINES and sure enough right on Justin's site he stated he was FOR KEYSTONE but against the Northern Gateway. That's how many uneducated people relied on the BS they read on FaceBook.

I totally agreed with him on that one. The Northern Gateway was going to destroy our forests and waterways. With the amount of unprotected places Harper left open it was smart to say no to that one.

Justin stood for legalization of Marijuana which was amazing. It's a source of billions of dollars that could really help our economy. Plus it creates tourism and more jobs. It's much more important then just getting stoned.

In Canada Harper was revoking green cards (Medical Marijuana Cards) and if you know anyone who has severe cases of epilepsy when your child is suffering from 200+ seizures per week your cure was taken from you.

We had one Mom here in Airdrie who's daughter's card was revoked. They did a special on her. Showing her child's motor skills and speech improving with a better quality of life all because of a plant from our earth.

Billions are wasted each year on our war on drugs. We spend countless dollars hunting down pot smokers and criminalizing them, throwing them in jail when we have bigger fish to fry.

Pills are what is claiming lives. In Calgary alone we've had 44 deaths. I live in a nice neighbourhood full of families with young children. Last week there was a drug bust down my street for pills. It really hit home that it doesn't matter which part of this city you live in toxicity will always run rapid.

Sorry for the huge long political post but I am over the moon that our new PM is Justin. I was ready for change and he is the breath of fresh air we needed.

Much Love SG'ers!

Yeah they are going to try and legalize for 420 next year. They want to have dispensaries set up in every major city coast to coast to help our economy and create tourism. We waste so much money on criminalizing people over pot when pills are killing our kids. My city (Calgary) has had 52 deaths this year from kids popping pills. Trudeau also just announced his Cabinet and its half woman! so the first time here we have equals sitting in Parliament! So proud! @jacintamae

That is so awesome! I agree it's horrible how they waste money on criminalizing marijuana use, I mean really it's just a natural herb. It's the hard synthetic drugs and pills that cause the problems. But even the fact that any drugs are criminalized is harmful. They should treat it more like a health issue not a crime so people struggling can seek help without fear of getting in trouble. I know certain states in the US have legalized marijuana but where I live it's still not legal. I wish they would legalize it Fedrally. It would help the economy a lot and pay off part of the national debt we have here. If Canada legalizes marijuana soon I'm gonna have to come visit! It's only a 3 hour drive or so for me since I live in northern Minnesota. That's cool you have more women in Parliament now too! I'm all for equal rights!
