Just when I think our expo can't get any better they drop this on me
I LOVE LOVE LOVE DRACO MALFOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was shooting with Madion Raine (the chair you see the fur babies on) and we have gone the past year together. I asked her if she got her weekend pass and she informs me this is the FIRST year shes missing due to a wedding.
She said to me "I have a wedding that Saturday and I am in the wedding party so its a full weekend of that crap! Just as long as no Harry Potter is there I will be okay". THEN BAMN! Malfoy was announced today.
I MIGHT NEED MY INHALER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am nervous already! hahahaaha
Today I celebrate. St. Paddy's Day is my anniversary for when I launched Hazzardous Material. Last night LilMissPUKEfce sends me a message YOU GOTTA CHECK OUT ZIVITY!!! OUR SET IS IN THE SHOWCASE ON THE FRONT PAGE!!!!
I was like WHAT!?!??!?! NO WAY! I've been trying to make it front page for two years! Goes to show hard work pays off.
I know member RPG would of been so proud of me. He's Photographed several of my sets on there and was my mentor for years. RPG died this past January in my house from a heart attack. It was the greatest hardship I've ever had to deal with. Finding your close friend/father figure dead. There is not a day that passes that I don't think about him.
I learned so much from him. Photographer's don't play well together. I am gonna tell you that RIGHT now. When I first started out I had questions on lighting that they never taught us in school. I had questions on editing skin, once again they never taught us in school so I went to friends who I knew were Photographers. I asked them questions and my replies were horrific. I got "A good Photographer NEVER shares their tricks" or "LOL your a Photographer now? Have fun when you never make it".
I did it as a hobby for 16 years! I am so bloody old I learned on FILM! hahaha!!!
I spent money on an education and I currently attend seminars to learn all that I can. When I met RPG years ago he told me any time I had a question just ask.
He taught me lighting, he taught me how Zivity works and most importantly I learned big stage etiquette from RPG.
You see he shot the biggest bands on earth. He photographed the Stones, AC/DC even PAUL MCCARTNEY! I loved to talk shop and view his iconic images.
I was blessed to work with him for the Stampede the past few years. Last summer I did Def Lep's freaking meet n greet! I met Jakob Dylan from the Wallflowers and he was hands down one of the nicest guys I've ever met. I got a foot in the industry thanks to someone who took a chance on me. RPG believed in me.
I know now that Great Photographers DO share their secrets. I've learned that no two eyes are alike and the ones that DON'T SHARE are the ones who are afraid your better then them and will take away their clients. ITS GREED!
I always take the time to teach. I've actually made some really good money from using a couple of my models and teaching others my technique, lighting and work flow. I take SAIT Photography Students on set with me and help them learn some basics along with courage when working with others.
Here is a Photo that RPG took of me last summer during Def Lep's set. We would be on the front of the stage shooting the first 3 songs of each band. Then after we finished I was able to watch the show from the Sound Booth. That is ONE BIG shit eating grin there!
RPG I know your up there looking down on me every step of my journey. Much Love
