What a shit show my city has been.
We are under a state of emergency. Calgary and Southern Alberta was hit hard by flooding. Half of my downtown was under water.
That last shot is the beloved Saddledome under water. This is the home of the Calgary Flames and our large concerts.
One week from today is our World Famous Calgary Stampede. They said HELL OR HIGH WATER the show must go on.
I am really conflicted with that. I know how important our rodeo is for our economy but I really think deep down we should of canceled or pushed back our Stampede.
Thousands are without homes here. We are pushing the downtown to be ready to open for the Stampede and there are so many out there without shelter, food or clothing.
I've been donating all that I can to the Red Cross. The really crappy part was our city taxes were due this week. So after paying that bill (due Friday) and what little I had left went to the relief fund here.
Really sucked because Tinkerbell had a vet emergency so I had to use my birthday money for a pet emergency. I keep praying that things get better here.
One good thing.... I turn the DIRTY THIRTY ON TUESDAY
So I wanted to give you friends on here a sneak peak of a set dropping on Zivity of myself.
LOVE these images. I've been killing myself four days a week at the gym. I've been taking a high intense training cardio class, yoga, iron reps and zumba.
These were taken only 3 weeks after I started my classes. I am now onto week 7. Tonight I get my hair done so this weekend I'm going to do another set so you can see the BOLD bright red
I've been busy as ever. This week we blew our stats out of the water. I check our weekly stats to see when the fans are engaging more and what interests them.
WE HIT OVER 40,000 VISITS IN ONE FUCKING WEEK!
I can't even express how much joy that brought me. We've been putting blood sweat and tears into our art and I love it that the fans are sharing because we are reaching farther and father away from Calgary.

Have a good long weekend and hopefully you will get to hear about some crazy debauchery for my Dirty 30 on Sunday

The city and especially local businesses need the money now more than ever. Some of the bars and restaurants near the Stampede grounds have been closed for a week now and they'll need the extra business to help stay open. While I understand that it can seem insensitive to have a big party while people are trying to put their lives back together, I think it would be even worse to cancel it. That, I think, would be a HUGE defeat for the city. Living downtown and working on shows for the Stampede this week, it's been amazing how people have managed to turn this shitshow around. I'm generally a pretty miserable cynic but this past week has been inspiring.

I work for Christie Lites. We're supplying a fuckton of lights, cables, rigging equipment and consoles for all the venues. Two straight weeks of work (including the long weekend) and a decent chunk of overtime. I'm exhausted and sore and gross but it is cool seeing everything go up so fast.
