This has got to be one of my favorite blog homeworks... Kindness and compassion makes my heart all warm and fuzzy! Let me tell you all how I met my lovely and beautiful deaf friend.
So every two weeks I will hit up my favorite nail salon. However, I was feeling lazy and not quite up to the 20 minute drive, so I went to a nail salon that I've never been to.
About 15 mins into getting my nails done, I see the receptionist coming up to the nail technician beside me. She then proceeds to tell the nail technician this, "your next client talks like a retard but she wants a basic manicure... Good luck trying to understand her." And the technician responded by rolling her eyes. (Side note, due to my uncle with disabilities- I am incredibly offended when people use the word "retarded") Well when that client came to sit down next to me, I noticed she had hearing aids. She was trying her best to tell the technician what she wanted done to her nails but was struggling. Her dialogue was a little hard to understand, but I was able to make out what she was saying and I helped her out by explaining to the impatient technician what she was trying to say. This woman then told me she liked my nail polish and I told her I was more than happy to share it. I then proceeded to ask her what the special occasion was for getting her nails done and she told me she had a date tonight and was very nervous. I told her that she will be fine, and to be herself. She broke my heart by thanking me for talking to her because not a lot of people were patient enough to. (WHAT A DOLL!!) When it came time to pay my bill at the front desk, I told the clerk I was disappointed in their service for being rude to their client and asked to pay for the woman I had just met's nails and to make sure she got a design which I was happy to pay extra for. I walked back to my new friend and told her I paid for her nail treatment and that I just wanted her to have a great day. She looked so happy, and thanked me.
She ended up getting my name from the receipt I had left and found me on Facebook. She messaged me and thanked me again. My new friend also told me she was nervous because she was in her mid 20's and never had a boyfriend... And she had asked the guy out on the date, and he said YES!!
Random acts of kindness does a heart good!!
