And another lap completed by Hati, Ladies and Gentlemen. He's really had the pedal stuck to the floor recently. Top speed at all times.
That's true, Gary. It's been a long race so far and I think it's safe to say everyone's expecting big things out of this guy.
Well, Frank, excitement is building in the stands. And it's easy to understand why. It's been a hell of a year for our rookie. Actually, a hell of a year-and-a-half! It was that long ago when he came out of nowhere and hustled his way into an obscure spot on the music video scene.
Yes Gary, this story's a crowd pleaser, that's for sure. Hati was so inspired by a ceratin song on an album, that he emailed the lead singer of the band claiming was an independent music video director, when, in fact, he had only shot a few perfomances of a local group! This band's lead singer wanted to hear Hati's idea, and gave him a phone number to call. Hati still jokes hat he was so nervous calling up the singer, (keep in mind this is his favorite band, and they're signed by a major label) he was worried he was going to yell "You guys rock!" and hang up the phone!
rrrrrrrrRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAANNNNNNRRRrrrr
Haha, that's right, Frank! When Hati finally related his idea, which wasn't an easy thing to do, the lead singer expressed surprise. He had been thinking the same thing! It was something they had tried to do for one of their own videos, but hadn't had the time for it! What a great coincidence!
True Gary. But it would be a long time before anything actually came out of that conversation. After many months of occasionally discussing ideas, Hati finally travelled back home to the West Coast to record shows by the band in L.A., Portland, and Seattle. He came up with another idea for a video that would use the concert footage, but the tracks performed were already past the point where a video could be used to promote them. It appeard that even after all that work, nothing would materialze at all.
Yes, rough indeed, Frank. All he was looking for was a break. Finally he decided to make one for himself. for the past three months he's been working around the clock on this project. And now, it looks like it's almost completed.
rrrrrrRRRRRRRAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNRRRrrrr
Yes, but look! While Hati is in the lead, the car sponsored by team Self-Doubt, driven by Second Guessing, is right on his heels! And that's someone he doesn't want to lose to!
Frank, it's not going to be easy to shake Self-Doubt. The truth of the matter is, this whole video project is being done without any input from the band. They didn't even know the video existed until about two weeks ago! So now that it's almost completed they're going to want to see it. What if they don't like it? What if they say "Hey, great. That's cool, but no thanks."
Well, Gary, Hati has to be realistic in his expectations. In truth, the band liking it would be an added bonus, but that's not why he made it. Don't get me wrong, it'd be nice they put it onto an enhanced CD, as the band is coming out with an album soon. Maybe Interscope will want to buy it! The real reason why car Self-Doubt has stayed this close for so long is that everything that Hati's done has been entirely on his own. Christ, he didn't even know how to use these graphics programs until he bought a book on them last year. Essentially, Gary, he's his own pit crew. He's got people cheering him on, but the nuts and bolts of the operation are entirely under his control. And the only way he knows if he's done everything right is if he drives his car and nothing bad happens. So the real question isn't "is the band going to like it." It's "is anyone going to like it?"
And no doubt the stakes are high, Frank. If he finishes behind Self-Doubt, lets Second Guessing get the better fo him, he could be out of the running for the big leauges. He could be demoted to the "Ordinary Life" circut. If you've ever spoken with this young man, you know that's what he fears most.
rrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNrrrrrr
Yup, just look at that kid go. There's no doubt he's picking up speed. But is he really going anywhere?
Stay tuned, Ladies and Gentlemen. It could be a real barn burner . . .
And tell us all a story.
