Had a good time hanging with various members of SGNY last night. Some of the highlights:
-About 6 SGers were playing darts on one of two side-by-side boards. I'm fairly new to the group, so I introduce myself without a moment's hesitation. Normally, this is a good thing. However, it was a little odd when I turned to this guy and said "Hi, I'm Chris." He paused for a few seconds and responded, "um, I don't think I'm with your group, but I'm Kevin."
OK THEN! Just thought I'd get to know, um, all the other, uh, darts . . . playing . . . people. Right. (I should have noticed he was wearing a button down oxford).
-Hearing stories from stacycats which left me so awestruck with their wackiness that I wasn't even prepared to counter with stories of my own.
-Meeting SuicideGirl Siv and finding out we went to the same college. Although I kind of suspected someone on this site had to have gone there. Also, had fun chatting with Siv's friends, who had a good sense of humor about meeting a bunch of people aquanited only by a website centered around women wearing lttle or no clothing.
-Seeing original animation cels from "Transformers: the Movie" on the wall. Funny thing is, legionnare had heard "You Got the Touch," the night before and not even made the connection.
-Searching the jukebox and seeing perhaps the greatest collection of songs I have ever witnessed. I put in two bucks and chose "Let's go Parking Baby," by the Ceasers. "Obstacle 1" by Interpol, "Intelligence" by And You Will Know Us By The Trail of The Dead," "Tears of the Clown" by the Beat, "Coco" by Stellastarr*, "Maps," by the Yeah yeah Yeahs, one other song, and finally "Crackin' Up" by the Ceasers. But, major buzzkill. It skipped over a lot of my songs becuase each play is 50 cents. What a rip-off.
-Getting compliments on my lightning bolt shirt (no relation to the band).
-Seeing various friends and aquaintences from SG.
Afterwards, I went to my friend's apartment and got decked out to go to Crobar, becuase the owner lives in her building and gave everyone in it an invite to the VIP section.
Crobar is enormous, but I have to say the people that work there dont' know the place very well, becuase it wasn't until about two hours after we got there that someone finally directed us to the VIP section. It was an odd crowd there. Don't know if I would go back (or if I could even get in again), but it was fun. And I am not a VIP kind of person, but that was the only cool part of the place. Better music, not so much pounding house as in the main cavernous floor.
And thank God we go two free drink tickets, becuase when it finally came time to pay for something, my Vodka/Red Bull was $11 bucks. That is easily the most I have ever paid for a drink in New York. But, considering I got two Jack-on-the-Rocks for free, it all balanced out.

That's so funny that you know where "You got the touch" is from. I think the last time I saw Transformers: The Movie was at a birthday party in the fourth grade, so it's been a while. Maybe I should rent it again? I was admiring the animation cells as well though, they fit the decor of the bar nicely.
Good seeing you though. I'll see you again in a few weeks....
