I'm so listless this evening; I don't know what's wrong with me. I did get a few things done today, though.
First of all, we went to look at a new flat. It's a private let which would get us away from the horrible, horrible Flat Company (anyone reading this in Edinburgh who rents will probably know who I'm talking about). The flat itself was just plain wonderful. Lots of space, great location and nice decoration. We'll be ringing up tomorrow to say "please, please, pretty please can we have the flat? Please?", but trying not to sound too keen while we do it.
Secondly, more progress was made on my potential summer project... and now that the deadline's up I can actually talk about that. Basically it's a project in which teams of five go to Dundee for ten weeks to make a computer game. The game we want to do is (to use our "official" blurb):
"In the world of Bad Penny, banquets are legendary and tragedy is certain. Only one thing is guaranteed: no two games will be the same. Random plot and character generation delineates the traditional concept of a murder-mystery game, generating new stories with different protagonists every time you play. Unique character AI quickly affects how fellow guests respond to your enquiries. But gather your resources quickly, because when the murderer strikes it will fall to you to solve the crime. Garner knowledge, play guests off against each other, analyse the crime scene and get ready to make your accusation."
If anyone is interested in the actual competition details are here: Dare to be Digital . This is the reason I've been reading the Poirot... I need to come with an algorithm which writes mystery stories and I felt I should get some inspiration. Today we got some work done on the layout we want to use for the house.
I'm going home for a couple of days tomorrow, which should be fun... none of my family know that I've cut my hair. The reaction should be interesting. Also, since I'm only there for a couple of days I borrowed a bag from my flat mate rather than take a suitcase... but he got it from a drilling company and the illustration on the side looks like a multi coloured penis. A Muppet penis, if you will. Should be interesting to see how my fine, upstanding parents react to that. This being the case, Im not sure if Ill be able to get onto SG while Im there, so yall be good while Im away.
