After about seven years away from the classroom, I am once again going to be teaching college students. The university in my town needed an adjunct professor to cover two drawing classes since the person they had lined up to take the position found a full time position elsewhere. I initally declined the the drawing position since I started a new job as a graphic designer at a local printshop and the college postion is only part time. It would have been afternoon classes and you can see the conflict with working an 8 to 4:30 job. About twenty minutes after I called the college to say I wouldn't be into the drawing job, they called back to say they had rearanged stuff and asked if I could teach some intro to design classes at night. I agreed to this, although I don't think I had an option to say no. This is a little bit bizarre because I got a job that I hadn't applied for or even been aware of without an interview of sort. The people at the college art department do know me from going to art shows, high school with their kids and a few other things, so it isn't like it is totally random, but it is still completely out of the blue.

But it's a hard thing to do. I know that... sigh
