On my way home now. An hour into a six hour layover in Chicago. I'm sitting in the corner of the Union Station food court, protecting my control over the hotspot, and, more crucially, power outlet, with threats of violence. Left home around 11:30 am yesterday. Amtrak is not bad, but LOOOONG. Need to get proof of res to get my PA driver's license, and be able to fly again. Maybe I'll try to get an IL one this week while I'm home. Decatur will likely have less stringent paperwork.
Dad is doing better. My mother's last text on the subject said he was doing "great," but I don't think a 56-year-old man having angina after two heart surgeries is ever doing "great."
Heard back from the girl. It wasn't much, but at least enough to let me know I wasn't being blown off without explanation. It's a long-distance thing, and we're not technically in a relationship; I just was pissed that it seemed like I was getting summarily cut off. Hopefully we'll talk more soon.
Ironically enough, she lives in Chicago. I'm here, and she's in New York, two scant hours from where I live.
Thanks for those checking in. I'll check your blog if you check mine!
