What's more depressing is that so many celebs can't go to a regular fucking pharmacy for fear of people finding out what they're on, so they get meds from docs themselves or through multiple places with fake names. Which means that that magical computer shit that checks to see if your drugs don't interact doesn't apply to them. And maybe the psych docs just give them what they want, or just don't think about the interactions (it's hard to remember how everything interacts with everything else)
Anna Nicole was a prime example. She had enough counter-indicated medicine to kill an elephant. If she hadn't have had to get her drugs in these back ass ways, if she could have just gone to a CVS or a Walgreens they would have seen in a second that those things shouldn't be taken together.
And my guess is this is just another one of those. And the people who love a good story are out there saying he was a druggy or something. And maybe he was. But it's equally probable, perhaps more probable, that he was taking meds he thought he could take together because he didn't have a real pharmacist to say "hey now, wait a minute..." Docs can't be expected to know every interaction. That's why pharmacists go to a special school and get special extra training.
This is a fucking tragedy. And there will probably be more like it. All because dumbfuck people have to chase down the private lives of everyone famous.
Now I'm all for celeb worship. Don't get me wrong. But at some point these people need to be allowed to be people...if only so that they can get medical care without it being front page news and don't end up dead because they couldn't go to a damn pharmacist.
Sorry. End rant.
I just love celebrities and it makes me sad when their lifestyle destroys them too soon. Or rather the lifestyle that our obsessive paparazzi culture forces on them when all they wanted was to be good at their job and make people happy (or make them think, or dance, or whatever)
