Had a sudden yen for something to nosh on so I perused the selections offered by the snack machine tucked away in close proximity to my warehouse office. Do I want salty or sweet, salty or sweet? Made my pick, a mini pack of Redvines, best impulse snack in the world this side of a frozen Snickers bar, uh huh! As I started to nibble away I reminisced about those days when I stood much closer to the ground and my mother was a giant in comparison to my once smallish frame and I would make my way over to the local candy store and get one of those 3 foot long Redvine licorice ropes. Naturally, when I was there with a friend neither one of us could resist the urge to lash the other with our red whips before we gobbled them down acquiring the customary red tongue one always gets. Alas, that brief and innocent period of S&M didn't develop any further but, my affinty for Redvines has apparently remained in tact. Such a simple concoction and yet so very delicious. However, the sick bastard that came up with black licorice should be ashamed, one bite of that stuff and your palate is hard pressed to forgive you for such an offense. Anise goes well in perfume and in liquor but never, never in a solid form. Redvines are supa-cool!
