It's fucked, typical and beautiful all at once. This drama queen I worked with announced a while back that he would be leaving at the end of the month. This guy, as far as his level or professionalism goes, is so fucking miserable and apparently, unpredictable as well.
A couple days ago, my manager sick of his coming in late all the time warned him that it could be potentially fatal to his position with the company. Ten minutes later, he just up and leaves without a word and we haven't seen him since.
Considering the crap we've put up with from him and his constant threats to quit if people didn't basically look the other way, it's assummed beyond all doubt that he quit, at this point he might as well have.
I was asked to clean his work area and I found all this old mail, checks, invoices, credit memos, and faxes that he never passed on to people. Just really fucked up! I went around and delivered the mail to each person, some of it was a year old and apologized for the inconvenience getting responses that ranged from sighs and eye rolling to grimaces and "no wonder, these guys screamed at me about this."
What is so sad is that this guy is 40 years old and he acted like a complete child and none of my superiors, with the exception of my current manager ever really did anything. Leaving like he did was fucked up but, on a positive note, he's screwed himself as far as trying to find another job and bruned a lot bridges.
I hate venting like this because but I can't help it. The guy was such a fucking jerk and the fact he was able to be like this for 5 years and not get fired just rubs me the wrong way. I'm glad he's gone, his replacement can only be a major improvement, I just wish my manager had fired him and I had been there to see him leave the building with the blood drained from his face.
