Some of you are probably like me and like to listen to the ass clowns on AM talk radio and then yell at your radio.
A friend of mine found a blog that responds to their asinine ideas. Here's a link to the site and a letter to a jerk-off named Michael Savage who hosts the Savage Nation.

Michael Savage - god, pot and nationalism. (6-10-5)
Dr. Savage-
To say that the red diaper doper babies have some sort of corner on the market of the use of altering substances is laughable to me. Not only do most people regardless of politics choose to periodically alter themselves - whether it be with marijuana or alcohol or any number of other readily available substances found not only within our culture, but around the world as well. Heck, if the fact that pot fundamentally alters reality is to be considered direct proof that it causes insanity (which you often claim) Id say religion itself ought to fall into this same categoryfor it surely fundamentally alters its users perception of reality. To think that perception alteration is something that grew out of the liberal left is to forget that every culture has its mind-altering substancesand this extends not simply to our modern global paradigmbut far into deep history.
A character in a Tom Robbins novel was offered some cocaine. He declined, saying he stayed away from the stuffpreferring awe to swagger. He explained that he stuck to drugs that diminished the ego like marijuana. I believe that the real problem those in power have with pot is that it tends to make the interconnectivity of Life explicit which is inherently anti-nationalistic. Ego-enhancing drugs like alcohol & cocaine make the interconnectivity of Life disappearthey make the Self absolute. Pot tends to do just the oppositeit makes the Self meek in the face of this giant network of interdependence we all so clearly share.
If the conservative Christians are to claim the moral high road theyd better quit choosing which parts of the instruction manual to follow. Jesus didnt say all Americanshe said all of humanity. And this is the lynchpin thats rarely mentioned and what I believe lies at the root of this culture war thats undeniably brewing in our midst.
Humanity MUST trump nationalism if a Christian nation is to maintain the moral high ground. But it never doesin reality OUR interests MUST come firstand therefore our Christian nation has raised the ire of the world with its belligerent hypocrisy.
Of course two centuries of hypocrisy is probably impossible to overcome and therefore a world of increasing violence is likely. And protecting those closest to you IS of paramount importancebut I believe weve been waylaid by the actions of our forefathersset up as the prime target in a modern world where the universality of man is becoming increasingly explicit thanks to our ever-growing global communication network. Everyone sees that were all the samethat just being born in location A doesnt make a hill of beans of difference than being born in location B. The United States willingness to stand in firm defiance of this increasingly explicit universality all while claiming to be a Christian nation lies squarely at the root of most of our problemsboth foreign and domestic.
And to bring it back around to pot and its ability to incite insanity youre RIGHT. Thats IF you believe nationalism trumps humanism. But if you believe that, then you cant call yourself a good Christianunless youre willing to be a hypocrite. Its true that potheads generally dont make good Capitalistsbut they often make good people. Marijuana users dont generally make good soldiers, either. Of course youll say this is proof that pot will bring us down in flames. But I say just because upholding mankinds equality isnt REALISTIC doesnt mean it shouldnt be attempted. And remember that when Jesus said turn the other cheek, he didnt intend for nationalistic goals to hold the trump card.
You recently made the same point about our nations situation with illegal aliens. Surely its not REALISTIC to simply kick them all out. Simply getting rid of them would likely be an insurmountable tasknot to mention the fact that our economy would suffer, if nothing else, serious short-term damage. (if not catastrophic long-term damage) But DONT JUST SAY THERES NOTHING WE CAN DO!!! (I can hear you scream into the mic) Well, thats the problem with the goddamned hippies (red diaper doper babies). They see the universality even knowing its probably impossible to attain and feel they must act toward its manifestation. Our government has criminalized pot because it tends to skew consciousness toward an understanding of this equalitywhich of course is anti-nationalisticwhich of course is anti-American.
How many instances are there where someone was so hopped up on pot that they took a swing at someone? Ego-enhancing drugs like alcohol and cocaine incite violence. Marijuana incites what may seem to be an inordinate level of interest in the simplicity of the world around usbut not violence. The only violence due to pot stems from the commerce behind itbecause of its VALUE.
Just because the United States of America has outpaced the rest of the planet in terms of its ability to manipulate the world both physically (industry/technology) and rhetorically (politics in general) doesnt give it higher status on the ladder of humanity. Nationalism is anti-Christian, period.
Nations are relics left over from the vast geographic distances that separated historic cultures. Over the millennia as these cultures have merged into each others spheres of understanding tribalism (early nationalism) meant violent resistance to change. Now we live in a globally connected world where even those cultures decades, or even centuries behind us on the cultural learning curve are being handed global knowledge and understanding. I contend that our efforts to spread democracy are inherently flawedfor cultures have to GROW into democracy, or are otherwise equipped with the tools without having true cultural wisdom on how to use them.
Of course this is irreconcilablefor once theyve seen the other side, how can we ask them to live without? What I maintain is that by trying to absolutely uphold American sovereignty at all costs and in so doing make national policy decisions that clearly put Americans first, and the world second we are effectively cracking the foundation of the message we claim to be spreading.
And one last thing concerning potI would never claim that pot is good for you. Smoking anything is nasty, and irrefutably unhealthy. And yes, some people do seem to be driven across some sort of mental fitness threshold when under its influence. But the same thing can surely be said about every other mind-altering substance used or abused by any person throughout the history of mankind.
The reason people SMOKE pot is its the most cost-effective delivery method. If pot werent so expensive I believe EATING it would become the norm.
A good friend of mines father died a few years ago from cancer. Hed been sick for about two yearsand had pretty much wasted away. He was up to about ten painkillers a dayand even they were losing their effectiveness. Now this was a 68-year-old son of a minister whod lived his life without alcohol, let along marijuana. My friend at the end of his rope after watching his dad lose weight on the couch, day in and day out asked me if I could get him some pot. He and I sat down and talked with his dadbrought out the pot. His knee-jerk reaction was one of disapproval but after a few minutes of talking, with him clearly reflecting on the seeming hopelessness of his situation, he decided to give it a try. The next afternoon, my friend called to say that when his mom had gotten home from work, his dad greeted her with a batch of chocolate chip cookies hed baked something hed NEVER done throughout his ENTIRE life. He died about 4 months laterbut spent far more time off the couch than before trying the pot. He even gave up his painkillers during those final months which raised his level of coherence his family said enormously.
Thanks!
