When you see a documentary and know the outcome and that it's fucked, you still hope that Hitler will blow up and Kennedy will duck
I apologize for the extra large update! I know that most of you won't want to read my crazy ramblings and I don't really blame you! I promise to make smaller updates in the future. To help, I made some smaller bullet points in this update. Feel free to just read one, or two of them and comment. Those are the highlights!
BC was dizzying. Absolutely dizzying. I have the hugest crush on... that city. *cough* what? angelvanilla, fenris23 and the incomparable Eddie made me feel so welcome in their home. I owe them so much for their collective hospitality. I really think I came back with some very close friends, which for someone like me is truly worth ten hours on a Greyhound. I don't make friends I feel absolutely comfortable around that often. *Hugs* My only concern was that poor fenris23 was swimming in an ocean! The rest of us are Cancers. Five cheers for water signs!
A little confession: I think I had more fun during this one weekend than I usually have in a whole month. That's certainly saying something as I'm having fun most of the time thanks to my fair Cancerian husband, recoveringmale). I remain a blushing bride. Some Canadian highlights:
-BC has the best sushi, which really makes me wish Portland was bigger and more diverse (Shhh... It's okay that you're a small city Portland, I still love you).
-I spent $80 Canadian in only 15 minutes at Zulu Records. The shop is that good.
-We managed to attend a party with the rest of the BC crew in celebration of Rin, though it appeared that she had been celebrated out by the time we got there and had taken to the solitude of the upstairs (next to S_Eldorado's amazing hallway recording set-up, I totally had gear envy!). Though I managed to sneak upstairs before we left and made some plans to go see Brokeback Mountain the next day.
-Some very fine clothing was purchased and I am feeling .25% more dapper and roughly .17% cuter.
-I found a First American Edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. It is slightly damaged, but the value estimate is around $500 considering the damage and print-run. The value makes me feel good, but my inner geek was just happy to have it.
-Brokeback Mountain made me dream of a truly progressive society where people feel completely free to express themselves, in any way they choose. It was even more surreal being in Vancouver while watching it. Portland is wonderful, but the "air" just feels freer without the restrictions of a certain cock-knob administration. My only problem with the movie was leaving the lovely Rin to her own devices midway through the movie! Though I think all was forgiven.
Really, I wonder if Vancouver is a secret to the United States populous? It's a truly excellent place to be. My fellow countrymen: Stay away from the true magic kingdom. You are not ready.
Coming home I feel like I'm still reeling somewhat. The late nights and early mornings are really starting to get to me. Especially since I came back to work with my feet planted and heels dug in: this is the last week and those sadists want me to work. I'm not even supposed to be here today. My schoolwork is really suffering from my exhaustion. I haven't even opened a book yet! I get caught up this weekend. I'm going to do my best to show restraint and stay signed out of AIM most of the weekend... for studying.
Sigh. Swoon. Sigh
