Well.......... after cleaning our last place and polishing the wood floor our 2 week moving adventure came to a close last night.
I met the little brother of the landlord at 8:30 and he informed me that he and his older brother were going to keep $100 of our damage deposit to
"clean the inside of the cupboards and sweep the closets"
to which I say
"it was like that when we moved in"
to which he says
"You should have told me up front, I would have done something about it"
Of course the sum they are keeping is exactly the amount it would cost to register a lawsuit in Alberta civil court against them to retrieve our money.
Landlords in this province are indeed the lowest form of life I have encountered.
Oh and Alberta tenant laws are insane and we need an ombudsman.
