Whenever I think I'm being profound or insightful, I am immediately contradicted by my notion that wisdom comes with age. Why am I so insistant on wisdom coming with age? Doesn't the thought of the better half of your life passing without much intellectual growth terrify you? Can you imagine the monotony of remaining fundementally the same now as when you're in your 70s? The minute you stop growing, others will leave you behind, or catch up depending on how much of a headstart you got. Bottom line: I hope every minute that I am full of shit, in desparation that I have something to surpass.

Side thought:
You're only young if you're less then half the age of your life expectancy. So say you expect someone to die before they're 30, they would be middle aged in their teens and rather old by 28 or so. Keep this in mind in case you feel yourself stagnating at a comparitively young age.

True.
Older people who crap on younger folks because they "don't know shit yet" are just as likely to be ignorant because they think they've achieved some plateau and stop looking at things deeply.
That said, people who can't conceive that they don't know everything are especially annoying if they're young.
Unfortunately, no one pops out of the womb with their shit together. You have to blunder through it for a while. In my experience the turning point is when you accept yourself, warts and all, but still try to accentuate the better parts and see what you can do about the crappy parts. That can come at any age, but tends to be in the mid twenties, of course for some it's younger and for some it never happens at all.
Having friends of different ages requires you to understand where they're at. I'm as grateful for my 20 year old friends as well as my 50 year old friends.
I'm deep, bitches!
