OK-Bear with me here, I wrote this while flying back from Iraq in the middle of the night (for me it was the middle of the night for you guys back home it was anywhere from eight to eleven o'clock at night). So it may not be well written or comprehensible but it is a bit of me being way excited and way tired at the same time. So have a nice little glimpse into my heed.
Me-34,000 feet above what is most likely a country I have never been to.
You-presumably sitting comfortable and cozy at home while reading this.
Me-fired up on going to Japan for a vacation/snowboarding trip this year or the next.
You-hopefully thinking this is a great idea and wanting to go too.
I'm totally serious about this. For reals. I'm really fired up, and haven't been to Japan for a few years. It's time. If you have never been, have wanted to go, or have been before and can't wait to get back then this is FOR SURE the trip for you.
Whether you snowboard or not is not a large sticking point but know this, snowboarding is my primary reason for wanting to go. Getting a tattoo in Tokyo would be a small plus but not necessarily mandated. I would be totally open to other stuff but I really do want to board at least three or four days out of seven or eight days.
There has been absolutely NO footwork done so far on this. I have yet to check resorts, flights, hotels, trains, busses, etc. et al. So I have absolutely no idea what this sort of thing is looking to cost me but at this point I really don't care. The only things that have been done are this blog, me getting the desire to pull this off, and watching "The moving picture project" from analog, which is filmed entirely in Japan. Definitely good viewing to get one stoked.
Going on vacation alone is lame/creepy so PLEASE if you think this is an awesome idea then do yourself and me a favor and start getting amped on this enough to save a little cash and cruise with me. I only really need one more person to go with but, I guess, the more the merrier. It'd be fun to shred with a whole crew.
Since I travel for a living I'm pretty stocked up on travel gear, so if that is a sticking point have no fear. I've got extra bags/board bags, backpacks, carry-ons, etc. Extra outerwear, goggles, gloves, warm things, and stuntwoods. I'm applying for my passport as soon as I get back from Germany (only have a government passport). And I'll be starting my legwork to get this whirlwind a-blowin within a few hours of posting this. Hopefully I get some replies with serious intentions.
If you are at all interested, inquire within. And by within I mean message me, or reply/comment on this and I'll let you know what's up with some of the prices and or locales that I've looked at.
