Life has actually been fairly good to me as of late. I spent this weekend with my kids, and despite the fact that my son was a little turd for a good portion of the time (he's three what can I expect) it was very very good to see them. Right now I get to spend every other weekend with them, and that is not nearly enough time if you ask me. I have even contemplated taking a lesser paying job where they live so that I can see them more regularly. My ex even suggested that I move up there for the summer next year.
My daughter, who is the most beautiful little girl on earth (if you doubt that statement I have the photographic proof), started crawling about a week ago and, unlike her brother Aiden who started crawling, walked a week later, and has not stopped moving since, little Laila seems to be perfectly content with crawling two or three steps, sitting up, grinning and laughing, and then crawling a few more steps. It was sooo much fun to watch. I laughed and laughed at her sweet antics.
Aiden, on the other hand, has decided that he is going to rename everything in the world with the help of his invisible best friend, monkey. He spent the weekend bringing me random items and telling me that it was no longer a spoon, but was now a "awecnwiounca." His new language is the approximal equivalent of punching the keyboard to spell something. It is hysterical, very cute, and always a little surprising.
Still, i never realize how much I truly miss them until I have to return home after seeing them again. I think that is the worst part about being a separated family (I hate the term broken in relation to divorce. We aren't broken, we are finally fixed). My ex went on her first "date" since the divorce and that was a little difficult to hear about. I knew that it was going to start happening and that it is a good thing, but still, it's a bitter pill to swallow. I don't like the idea that another guy will be raising and disciplining my kids. That is my job ... and now I will have to share it.
...ugh...
In lighter news, Comic Con is finally here and I am SOOOOOOO excited. I leave Thursday morning with my neighbor and his soon to be brother-in-law (his sister-in-law is wicked hot and I would totally chase that is her boy friend were not such a cool guy!). This is going to be a crazy weekend. I am planning on hitting the SG gathering on Saturday night so that should be fun.
Anyway, life is finally good (for a day or two) and I am hoping it will stay that way (for another day of two).
Cheers,
Price
