Hey kids!
Hope you are all having an amazing day.
So.. one of my resolutions for the Year is to have more fun... especially when I'm working.
Now.. I have a lot of fun already. Doing Comedy in particular is a blast. And The band and I have a great time playing out... And I really enjoy spending time with fans before and after the shows.
I am so proud to have the fans I do. They are some of the coolest, most forward thinking, open hearted people ever. And as would be expected there are also some coarse souls that come along and try to blend in and then commence to stake a claim to the exclusion of everyone else... So... to make sure that I get to spend as much honest face time with the really fun people as I can...
I am going to establish some rules of engagement. That way I can weed out the bad eggs and be more of a person and less of a diplomat.
1. My time is my own. I choose when I come and go.
2. I can be as open as I want, but if you pry into my private life don't expect an answer.
3. There isn't a person on this planet that owes me their attention and vice versa.
4. Being a nice guy doesn't mean being neutered. If Im dating someone or lots of someones that is between me and them If I believed that being asexual was integral to being a good person I would never have done QAF and I wouldnt be a huge KISS fan.
5. The gifts I receive are awesome and I appreciate them but if you insist I do anything with them like "You better hang this in your house" or "you better wear this the next time I see you" I will give it to back to you or I will give it to charity. Because that is not a gift. It is a payment for services. And I may be a slut but I'm not a whore
6. If You e-mail me and I can't respond you are not allowed to get upset or take it personally. I have several friendships that I maintain while on the road as well as trying to keep in contact with my family and occasionally, if I'm lucky, a girlfriend... so they have priority. As much as you might think it is, it isnt personal.
7. Don't ask me about the other actors on QAF. Don't ask me if the sex scenes were hard. Don't ask me who's gay and who isn't. Anything else is fine.
8. Criticism is always welcome. I love to hear your opinions as it helps me improve my work. But if you are just being snotty to get attention... I will ignore you and pay attention to people who mean what they say.
9. If Im taking my time talking to someone, Especially if they came a long way or they have special considerations, suck it up. I will get to you and be just as true to you when we talk.
10. I am a Comedian, an Actor and Im in a Metal Band. I live my life such that the normal rules of society, specifically the ones that serve no one except those that would want us to live in servitude, dont apply to me. I am all about personal freedom and I truly believe that we all deserve the opportunity to be the most elevated amazing version of ourselves because as we are now we will never be again. So it wouldnt make sense to preach that and then allow myself to be saddled and bridled by random people who have neither my nor their own best interests at heart.
It wouldnt be fair to not put some rules on myself as well. Here they are.
1. I dont drink, smoke or do drugs. I never will. As a fan you can take that as a guarantee.
2. No one reads my fan mail or myspace mail but me. and I will never share the contents of an e-mail you write to me unless you give permission. Unless you are a nutcase in which case all bets are off.
3. I will give you an honest answer to an honest question.
4. I want the best for you. I will always do my best to facilitate that. Even if that is through avoidance.
5. If you choose to spend your money on me I will always do my best to earn every dime twice. As much as Producers and Studios and club owners and record labels might think otherwise.. You are my Boss.
Thanks so much for letting me continue to be me.
Much Love,
Hal
