P90X
So, in a very vain effort to look better, I'm still pushing forward with P90X regularly. It's a pretty decent workout and I'm saddened that there are some exercises that I still can't do (and don't get me started on the fucking yoga, which I'm developing a love/hate relationship with). But, there's quite a few that I can do and I'm really starting to get back into the swing of being in the gym on a regular basis. Which is definitely good.
Of course, I'm also being a lot more paranoid about what I eat, too. I'm taking off Thursday nights (for drinks) and Friday afternoons (for gaming and those devilishly delicious thin mints), but otherwise I'm sticking to a pretty delicious regiment of veggies, fruits, mixed nuts (for snacks), water, lean chicken and fish. That's about it. There's no real science behind it, but it seems to be slowly working its way away from my waistline. So, yay!
Of course, since I have roughly 6 weeks before I'm Stateside, I will probably kick this whole process into third gear in short order.
On Writing
(Hey, look, a pun on the novel by Stephen King. Aren't I clever?!?!) So I've been working on the next character primer for my game, Rhune: Dawn of Twilight, and its turning out to be a real beauty. I've really been in the zone and it's definitely showing. I put damn near 10k words out this week and I've plenty of room to go. I honestly think this next primer will approach 100k, easy - all before noon. I'm pretty excited about that, too.
And speaking of gaming...
I'm still pleasantly surprised that Microsoft changed their minds about the XBox One. Like so many other geeks, I was worried that the recent E3 announcement would kill the system. And from I saw (and heard), their announcement did. But they smartened up, and quickly, and fixed it. So, yay, looks like I'm ordering the new system!
My Samsung brings all derp to the yard....
So I bought the new Galaxy S4 yesterday. And you know what? It's already died. In less than 24 hours. I know, I know... you're all making that "stop being a whiny little bitch" sign of the sad violin with your fingers and mentally projecting the hash-tag for #firstworldproblems. I get it. I really do. But seriously, who the fuck is running the QA over in China? How do I charge a brand new phone, enter all my data, sync the phone, and then have it blank-screen on me 20 hours later. While the conspiracy nut that lives deep in my brain is screaming "Chinese Data-Mining," the rationalist in me realizes it's probably just a shitty display with horrible solder joints or whatever. And it's still new, so now I just need to drive all the way downtown to the shop that holds the warranty and exchange it. For another new one.
Still, I'd rather not make that trip first thing on a Saturday morning. Moreover, I'd like to be able to see them do the factory reset on the phone and wipe the drives. While I've already deleted all of my Google information remotely, I still don't like the idea of all that possible data being stored somewhere that some low-paid tech can just swipe.
While it probably won't happen, it still annoys me.
And that folks, is life in a nutshell right now.
EDIT: Oh, and happy Summer Solstice!!
