It's alive... IT'S ALIIIIVVVEEEE!!!!
From the ashes of my former computer, The Beast, has arisen a new monster, capable of both higher math and an ungodly array of time wasting applications...
... I call it...
FRANKENBEAST!
bwahahahaha....
*ahem* sorry bout that. Got a little excited. I like to consider myself pretty technically savvy, but even I was expressing doubts about buying a brand spankin' new SATA drive (160 gigs, drool), installing it, and then loading Windows XP on it. Not to mention reinstalling all of the programs, virus updates, drivers, support platforms, and the aforementioned time wasting apps. I specifically tried not to install Internet Explorer, preferring Mozilla's Firefox, but somehow the little bugger snuck on anyways.
The next step is to try and recover the data on the old hard drive...
On a slightly less geeky note, I've booked my ticket for travel to the former soviet republic of Georgia. I'm broke now, but it'll be worth it. If anyone has any souvenier requests, I'll take 'em till I leave in August. Personally I'm gonna try and get my hands on some old Soviet clothes... very cool.
Other than that, it's the same ol' same ol'... got a military dining in to go to tomorrow. should be fairly entertaining, as the majority of participants are college seniors who are about to be commissioned in the Merchant Marine or the Navy.
If I'm not suffering from alcohol poisoning the day after, I'll update as to the hijinks.
