And now, a moment of silence for my computer.
Thank you. My computer, affectionately referred to as "The Beast," has died. It was a sudden thing, that happened in the wee hours of the morning of Saturday the 28th of May. From 0130 to approximately 0245, I was playing City of Heroes, and then I had turned in for the night. At approximately 0300, my computer issued a "clunk" and then a quick succession of "clackety clacks" reminiscent of a train doing 60 down the tracks. I shut it off, and tried to reboot, but to no avail. My hard drive had given up the proverbial ghost.
"The Beast" had suffered massive internal hemorrhaging and simultaneous failure of an indeterminate number of internal components, all with no prior indication besides a bit of lag while loading programs. Besides all of my pr0n, I lost most of my 18 gigs of music, several pirated programs (ah, Adobe Photoshop, how I shall miss thee... *sniff*), and quite a few of my archived blackmail, i mean, conversations and contact information for people.
The good news is that I unwittingly backed up some of my more irreplaceable pictures from Panama and the trip across country on a memory stick. The better news is that I can now buy a much bigger hard drive, something to put The Beast's paltry 60 gigs to shame. I'm thinking a 250 gig SATA drive.
The rest of the computer is salvageable, I hope, as I've sold my soul to those evil bastards at Dell and I'm still paying it off. Oh well.
