This is just my opinion. I am not assoc with any organized religion....
i saw Religulous last night, the Bill Marr movie. I thought it could have been done better. i was really let down. It was not as smart/good as something like the documentary Jesus Camp. There also seemed to be too much focus on Christianity and not enough on the other major religions of the world. Also, he seemed to be more harsh to the Christians and didn't confront the Muslims on the same level. He also didn't have enough info on Mormons and Scientology. Eastern religions were not brought up at all. It just seemed unbalanced based on world religions.
Over all, his view came off as a religion in itself. If felt like he was preaching like religion does. So he was acting in the same shitty manor as religion. That actually discredited any points he had made for me. Even though, i already knew about 80 percent of the info he was talking about. So it just came off as him trying to confront Christians, instead of trying to make valid points and calling bullshit in a civilized manor. He also seemed to be trying to convert the Christians to atheism/agnosticism, like Christians try to convert the quote un quote "unsaved". He only talked to one priest that actually disagreed with the system and creationism. I think the other priest he talked to was fake. He pretty much was giving a black and white answer to religion, just like most religions do.
i didn't like the editing. It seemed to be a stuck in the middle of the daily show's fake interviews and an actual documentary. Dont be serious one minute and then commical the next. The viewer might have problems following it. You could tell stuff was twisted to make people look more stupid than they were at times. Why would you have to do that if you had a solid argument in the first place?
Basically i think it could have been more neutral and let the evidence reveal itself. I think he is trying to hard to be an George Carlin toward religion. Which is not coming off as funny or as smart as Carlin was.
This is just my opinion. I am not for organized religion, and what it does to society. So this opinion didnt' come from me begin offended. I just think it was not done in a solid way. It seemed to be almost a half assed version of Micheal More, but more preachy. Anytime someone is preachy and on a soap box to this level. i automatically start calling their bullshit. Even if i agree with them. I do agree with the educated version of what he was saying.
also it was so not on the level or Borat either
wait till the dvd and get if from netflix or bit torrent it. That is if you really must see it. it was almost a waste of time.

Thanks for the heads up. When it was first released, I read a very good review of it, I would rather pay $1 than $7 to see it if it may be marginal.
