I'm sure this isn't a unique thought, it's probably been vocalised on here a million times, but fuck it, it's my turn.
Going to work has never felt right to me. The concept has never really sat comfortably for me at all. Now I've had a job since I was 13, I'm 24 now, so I've been working in one way or another for 11 years. I think it's only right that people contribute to society, work, pay taxes etc. I've been on benefits, and I made sure I got off them as soon as possible, but you get people who cheat the system and live on government handouts without any intention of getting off their lazy arses, this infuriates me.
That said, the idea of working all your life, so that when you're old you can afford to live in some sort of comfort, but little else feels straight up wrong. I know you can enjoy yourself while you're young as well, I've just come back from a long weekend away, but the majority of your money goes where? I know there's the lucky few who earn enough money and have enough time to enjoy it while they can, but for most people it's trade in all your time for money, or have all the time with no money, rendering your time useless.
It seems to go against human nature, way back when we had to hunt and build to survive, but that work was a world away from what we do now. Maybe it's because hate my job, and maybe if you enjoy your job, you have no problem trading in time for money, but for me it just feels off.
I'd be interested to hear what other people think.
Lots of love!
