sweet jebus, this morning was crazy with a capital 'KUH'.
around 3am or so i get a feed saying there was a special report coming in on ABC. World News Now updates with Abu Musab al-Zarqawi being killed in a strike. Not soon after, CBS does its own update. and about an hour from that, NBC finally catches on and does its own update. forget about Fox. they are slower than a brick doing the 100m dash.
at 5am we run our regular program of Good Morning Charlottesville. we try to cut to a CNN feed of the Abu Musab al-Zarqawi situation - but the ABC transmitters fail on us! it does this another time before we finally get a patch through. unfortunetly, we only captured a generic 30 second. what we really wanted was to be able to do a 2 minute talk with one of their anchors. pish.... that didnt happen.
so it continues on like that till 7 when i get ANOTHER feed saying Bushie wanted to make an apearance at 7:30 on all networks. EVEN our 'beloved' FOX. now... if you know the inside workings of FOX you know that its mostly server stuff. stuff we have on our servers that we can broadcast at will. they never ever goto Network. well... never ever to hardly ever.
7:30 rolls around and bush walks up and does his thing. i honestly wasnt paying attention. i was too caught up in segmenting taped weathers and news casts to be injected into our system for later times that morning. i was working on 3 stations at the same time, who all wanted ALOT of attention because of the situation.
ABC CBS FOX: "Pay attention to me!"
HAFU: "QUIET YOU!" *kick!*
ABC CBS FOX: *cries*
hahaha... yeaaaaah..... i wish i could have. i felt like i was moving so fast today to keep up with all of it that i was Neo in the Matrix or something.
oh yeah. one more thing. on top of all of that - i was monitoring our new guy to make sure he didnt make a mistake. which, he actually did an okay job considering. because of all the excitment, i feel very energised right now and not at all tired. well. maybe a little tired. but still energised.
