Here's a quick post concerning some fun things going on in the next few weeks. The April Skies have a busy month ahead of them - they'll be playing in Harrisburg on April 14th, in Dewey Beach on April 20th, and in Boston on May 5th. These are long time friends on mine who I travel with to do regular roadie type stuff. The Harrisburg show is at The Abbey, a great place to see a band, and will have no cover charge. I'm scheduled to compete in a karate tournament earlier that day, so you may recognize me as the guy with the recently bloodied nose moving equipment around. Specifics for that one are listed below - I'll post more information about the other's when I have it.
THE ABBEY AT ABC
50 N Cameron Street
Harrisburg, PA
Door 9 PM | 21+
Doors 8PM | Show 9PM
Tickets: FREE - did we mention that this is a FREE show - NO COVER!!!!
On April 15th I'll be in New York for a Henry Rollins, Janeane Garofalo, Marc Maron speaking show at the Gramercy Theatre. I'm really excited about this one. I should make it into New York sometime that afternoon and will likely hang out for awhile afterwards, depending on how I travel, so feel free to contact me if you're going to the show or just want to grab some dinner with a really tired fellow SG member.
In other news, I recently had a stray dog living in my apartment. She is a very nice (although questionably house broken - that sucked) Irish Wolfhound mix and spending time with her was no burden, even though her acute separation anxiety kept us joined at the hip for a few days. Under normal circumstances I'm rarely home, though, so there's no way I could keep her long term. All the standard reports were filed and it soon became obvious that no one was looking for this dog. Fortunately she has found a good home and starting crapping outside.
I bring this up is because the experience taught me that finding a shelter that won't euthanize it's borders turned out to be pretty hard. Some are almost sure to put them down within 48 hours. This may just be a Philly thing, but since that's where I live, I'm soliciting advice in case I find myself with a four-legged roommate again. I know there are a bunch of animal adoption networks out there, but I'm not sure who to trust. I'd also like to help out a good one if I can it, so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Enjoy the weekend,
John
