Welp, I finally broke down and did it. I just bought Resident Evil 1, 2, & Outbreak. I feel a little guilty spending money on myself so close to Christmas time, but whatever. I have plenty of $$cash$$. I know I could have just bought Resident Evil 4 or 5, but I didn't. Neither one of those games have the classic RE feel to it that made me fall in love with the series. Sure they're eerie, but it's not the same feel as the earlier titles. I have fond memories of visiting my friend just to watch him struggle through RE 1. The game creeped me out, but I couldn't look away. The experience later inspired me to buy and complete Resident Evil: Code Veronica X, which I loved. I'm actually quite saddened by the turn the series took with the new games. Sure they're very well done, but where are the classic zombies I love to pump round after round into? The enemies in the new games feel more like the infected from 28 Days Later than the lovable, brainless undead of the RE series. To sum up my rambling: I just bought the first couple games of the RE series plus a later game that still allows you to fight classic zombies in the hopes of rekindling my love for RE.
