The world must hate me this weekend. Ask me where I am writing this blog from. Go ahead...
I am waiting...
No, you are wrong. I am not in prison nor an insane assylum, although I might be after this weekend. I am in the business center of an Amerisuites in Raleigh/Durham. But H, you dont live in Raleigh. And you would be correct.
So where to begin? I left Thursday from Pensacola in the hopes of getting to Norfolk. My mom lives there so I was hoping to see her for a few hours before I continued to DC the next day. On the way to Norfolk, we were asked to follow a Cesna that was having radio problems and the controllers were having difficulties tracking it. We found it and chased it for about 20 miles before he out ran me. I am in a helo after all. So we finally make it to Norfolk but its hella late and I see my mom for like an hour before she has to get to bed. I was able to show her the places in Roma we are looking at staying (Ed. Note. I am taking my mom and Jessica and her parents to Roma for my mother's 50th birthday next March and we are renting an apartment in Campo De Fiori. If any if you have any tips, please share). So we left the next day after an abbreviated schedule. We were leaking WAY too much transmission fluid so I cancelled two of the flights. We made it to DC fairly early and without incident.
In DC, I stay with my friend Tommy and his beautiful, pregnant wife Michelle. They live in Alexandria, which was a short drive from Andrews. Oh, those Air Force fuckers gave me a car. God love those dudes. No way the Navy gives me a car. Anyways. we head to Old Town Alexandria and eat some delish Thai food. Since we have no Thai in P'cola (other than Siam Thai), I was stoked to get some good noodles. My friend Bill and his gf meet us there and then we left and meet up with some other old friends at an Irish place close by. A few Irish Car Bombs later (my fav) and pints of whatever they handed me and I was fucked up. Got home and took some preventive measures by downing two Aleves and some aqua.
The next day was a short one because I woke up with a hangover and it was like noon so no sightseeing for me. I wanted to jump the metro and head down to the sites but alas, I could not because we were meeting some peeps at 1800 to watch the DC United take on Chicago Fire. The game was pretty entertaning. 3-1 DC United. From there, we rolled to Dupont and went into Buffalo Billiards. Oh, did I mention that I am rocking my SG shirt the whole night? I got a few looks/smiles from people that I think knew what the shirt was. Anyways, played darts and tried to set my boy Brandon up but I just couldnt seal it for him. He is kind of shy and I am overly loudmouth. So much in fact that I called a girl a JAP (Jewish American Princess) and like the idiot that I am didnt realize it was a bad term. I thoughtt it was a common one. But no. Its not. Its like dropping the N word. Oppps.
We left DC on Sunday and headed for Raleigh. As we come in to land, my student decides to keep his speed up so we can get off the runway. But he doesnt slow up enough and I have to take the controls after he tried some crazy ass manuever to slow us down. It did not work and we almost smacked into the ground. So I took the controls mid air and stopped us from kissing concrete. But in the process of doing that, I overtorqued the helo. I know this might not mean anything to you but its bad. Better than crashing but bad none the less. So here I sit, at the Amerasuites.
We did go out to Hibernia's last night. Almost got stabbed by a bum, but thats a different blog...
I should be home tomorrow. I hope. This was a long one. Sorry.
I am still madly in love with a few of you out there....you know who you are.
