The craziest thing I’ve done is actually a two-way tie between getting tattooed (which I’ve talked about in an earlier blog post) and the time I bungee jumped on a whim at the West Edmonton Mall. Sometime in the mid-2000s, I was visiting Edmonton for a Quickbooks course and to see my friend Sarah, who was there on a work study. We were shopping in the mall, and we came across the stall with the info about the jump. I said to Sarah, “I’m going to do this.” She got nervous at first, then excited for me. I paid, changed into my bathing suit, and headed off to learn the safety stuff.
I had multiple panic attacks as we went up to the top platform. I did the jump by my ankles, and the guy constantly repeated, “Make sure your top half Is below your legs before the bungee cord extends the whole way, or you could get really, really, really hurt if you don’t.” I was the last of the six of us to go that day, and I was also the only girl.
At last it was my turn. I walked up to the edge, waved to the camera, and fell into oblivion. I was so busy worrying about falling correctly, I didn’t make a sound. When I got back to the edge afterward, Sarah said she’d thought I’d died, as I didn’t make any noise. I was shaking with adrenaline and fear, but happy to be alive. I changed clothes again, got my DVD of the jump, and continued shopping before we went to lunch at Red Robin. After that it was back to the hotel.
So yeah, that’s the craziest thing I’ve done. Until I joined SG, that is. So now it’s a three-way tie.
That's all for now! XOXO Gyidge
