I had a few friends who had tattoos and told me about their reasons for getting them. It got me thinking about what I would get if I took the plunge and got one for myself. As I was browsing online for images, I came across the one I decided to use for my tattoo. I then met with my friend’s tattoo artist, and he told me to think about it for a year. If I still wanted it a year later, I could come back and get it tattooed. I took his advice, and when a year was up, I went back. The tattoo was done in two sessions and did not hurt as much as I had expected. I also came super prepared for the long haul of being tattooed – I had Powerade and candies to keep my blood sugar up, and a book to read while he did his thing.
The first day was the outline and it went fine. The second session a month later was the colour, which went well. I was so comfortable that I was actually falling asleep. However, there was a guy getting a touch-up on the other table, and he cried out with a girly scream. My artist stopped and asked if that was me; I just pointed at the other guy. He laughed and continued.
I’ve had the tattoo since 2009. I do plan to get more, but the tattoo shop where I got this one has since closed and I haven’t found a good replacement yet. Anyone have any recommendations?
