So finally I have 5 minutes to myself to tap out a wee update...
As previously mentioned I've been back and forward between Europe and West Africa for most of the time since last May. Africa isn't exactly one of the best places to be just now thats for sure, everyones going a little crazy. The media has really got hold of the Libya thing at the moment and none of the African countries get a look in. Of course, Libya has OIL!
Anyway the reason I bring this up is that my ship was making frequent calls to the port of Abidjan on the Ivory Coast where things were steadily getting more and more tense due to a situation where the old president wouldnt step down after the elections. I've followed the news on it since I came back and it seems the country is getting closer and closer to all-out civil war. Sad to think some of the friends I made there might have already been caught up in the fighting or in the mortar attack on the marketplace that killed so many just the other day.
On a happier note, I had an awesome week the other week off visiting friends in Holland and did a bit of sightseeing in Amsterdam and Zaandam too.
Back to reality tho, I'm back at college heading for my final exams with all sorts of obstacles thrown in my way. Shifted goalposts, project deadlines and so on. I just cant wait to be finished!
Roll on July!
