You shouldn't delay on applying to grad schools. You don't want to be caught in the "I'll work another semester to save up" mentality. Those are the people who are still talking about finishing college when they are in their 40s and have done nothing with their life. I'm not saying that you will do that but too many smart people don't follow their dreams because they are always waiting for the key time. -dave

it's never easy. i'm glad you seem like you had some time to prepare. i'm sorry it's still so sad. i only have one grandparent left and i can't imagine losing her. thoughts and prayers to you.

As one of my friends has shared with me. It's like going to a job interview and having them say we're not going to give you the job. You're everything we're looking for and more, in fact, you meet every standard we have, and although you will probably do the job better than anyone else, instead, we're going to give the job to someone else less qualified even though he expects more compensation.

alright, so what the fuck is "emo" anyway?? is it being sad and lonely for no reason, and now there is a name for it?

i'm sure there will be a lashback sometime in the next 3 years. the mid 90's were fairly happy until alanis. then they found the depressive market. september 11th had some more uplifting music but emo had already saturated the indie and college market and boomed to highschool and pop culture. emo will only rain supreme until we find something better than goth metal and boy band front men. but the truth is, the 90's gave birth to the "modern male" who isn't afraid of his emotional side. it also gave death to the 80's hair metal testosterone driven male because it's politcally incorrect or something. it's hard to fight that kind of cultural change. the Bad Ass image is a delicate thing these days.

interesting prose-poem. i wonder how many people when you read it understood all the references (a couple definitely eluded me). I feel your superhero dreams in a lonely heart.

it's a good way to describe growing up. i definitely have been going through the emotions you described for the past couple years.

Tell me about the storms. Ugh. It kicked three of our radio stations off the air (that we know of at this point) and has been a pain in the ass all night. It also took down my Internet connection this afternoon. Zombie movies are works amongst themselves. Shaun of the Dead is the only one I've ever gotten into. Maybe I'll see Dawn of the Dead though, I've heard good word of mouth stuff about it. -Dave

So this rain you speak of. I was driving from New Jersey back here in the Burg and 81 was a nightmare of rain. I couldn't see 20 feet in front of me. That's bad at 60mph.

Power out party sounds like fun. Laptops have batteries. But laptops without internet just feel impotent. ummm...so to speak? nevermind. haha
