Pretty good thanksgiving for me: went to my aunt's house as usual and had some delicious turkey that my uncle smoked, lots of really good food with my cousin's excellent pecan pie for dessert. I managed to eat just slightly too much, so I wasn't totally miserable. I hung out in the back yard, smoked cigarettes and talked to my cousin about matters of great import like the auto industry, the coming economic shit storm, libertarianism, socialism, food, and cats.

Came home, took a nap, then went out to the shop and tinkered with my motorcycle. After making some adjustments to my left footpeg and gear shifter, I finally installed this fork brace that I've had for about a year now (it's a brace that goes between the fork tubes on the front end to force them to work together, making the fork laterally stiffer which improves handling, which makes the bike even more fun to ride).

This brace was designed to fit a different motorcycle, so I had to get creative to make it fit my bike. Here you can see me cutting aluminum strips to make shims...

Now it fits perfectly and that fucker is solid. Yesterday was surprisingly warm, so I went for a ride. You can see the new brace in place. I like how you can watch the reflected countryside slide by in the polished aluminum.

Hey, thanks for asking!

But firstly, great video.. i'm inspired, perhaps i should make one too! I was struck by the excellent visibility you have there.. there are some great roads around my house in West Sussex but it's heavily wooded around here.. so it's like riding through a tunnel of trees much of time... zero run-off..jeje!

I like the latest upgrade to your Zed! Seeing the pics of you cutting aluminum shims reminded me of a passage from Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, jeje! But good to see you have some good weather still! Aqui, hace frio de cojones, jeje! .

I'll update my journal in the next few days! Am today in a hotel, working at my agency's head office.. will be home by Thursday night tho'...

Yay for polished aluminum!! smile
