I helped a friend move from OKC to Austin last week, took the opportunity to catch up with some old friends...
Highlights of the trip included beer-fueled singalong:
Visiting with my old cat, Burden (isn't he a handsome brute?):
I went to Pierre's place, but he wasn't there, so I took pictures of his yard art:
Dropped in on my friends, Muchos Backflips, at one of their shows:
There was a lurvely trumpet in front of the bar:
I went to the afterparty at their band house:
This thing was tied up out front. I have no information on what it is or who it belongs to...
The next night, my old bass player (and tattooist) took me to dinner at a place called The Flying Saucer (http://beerknurd.com/):
Saw this on the way there:
The food was really, really amazing!
Our waitress was entirely hot (they all were):
They have about any beer you can imagine on tap there!
I finally got to try Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. It was good, but on Satoshi's recommendation I tried Rio Blanco Pale Ale from the Real Ale Brewing Company and I gotta say it's much, much better. If you guys get a chance, you should give it a try:
"Mmmm, hoppy!"
On the way back north to J'Oklahoma, I paid a visit to my old drummer:
We paid a visit to a veritable candyland of exotic European motorcycles?
Then we saw an armor train:
He's so metal...
I got home and painted my tank to match the tail. The shiny votes took it:
I need to let it cure in the sunlight for another afternoon before I wet sand and compound and buff.
I worked yesterday on a hold-down strap for my battery:
Too complicated.
Simple and elegant, but doesn't allow clearance for the tailpiece.
Not as simple or elegant as I'd like, but I think it'll do the job.

Lots of fun. Yasmina's flying back out to stay for a week later this month..
I had a disturbing night this Monday when one of my other Espaola pals (Arantza) had me come to along with her to a terrible hair metal show in Camden, London (Pretty Boy Floyd, Britney Fox, and two others. I despair). What's the deal with all the Euro-chics going nuts for that stuff? It's beyond me.
Hey, can't you send Hank 3 over instead? Please!!??
Anyway, more imortantly, how's that Zed cafe racer going!?
