Hi there, and happy Saturday.
I've been watching two geckos this week; they belong to a nearby 5th grade class and I watched them while the classroom teacher and their summer care taker went on vacation.
It's been great. It brought me back to my childhood, when I had reptiles pretty much the entire time I was growing up.
But now, they go back tomorrow. I already know I'll miss them.
I remember now why I liked having lizards.
So, I can miss them, or I can get lizards, or both.
I know that this is a small example, and that's why I use it. It's insignificant, really, and part of daily life, but it can be translated to larger things. This little example is just one that's easy to talk about.
All of life is going to be lost.
What gives us hope is our ability to act on and in life.
Loss is what gives meaning to our hopes and drives our actions. And a life with out loss is meaningless and empty indeed.
I hope you have a great day, wherever you find yourself.
I'm off to be an emergency and last minute baby sitter for a friend.
